Gluttons for Punishment

Brand loyalty is strange.
Users and consumers go to great lengths attempting to justify and pontificate their at-times dogmatic credos.
This, unfortunately, necessarily precludes further learning and exposure to new thought, processes, ideas and discussions.
Consider this gratuitous misquote:
There are bunch of frogs in a well. One of them, Froggy, somehow escapes outside and sees different things (or so it is said). Froggy comes back and tells the other frogs about the sights and sounds. Many believe Froggy. But, equally certain, many don’t.
Years pass. No other frog has again ventured out of the well, if it did — either it could not garner enough supporters upon it’s return; or the rest of the frogs were already divided into two camps: those following Froggy, and while those skeptic of Froggy.
Froggy’s followers believe there is more than just the well, but have no idea how to experience and perceive that. They do not know how to go out, to see the sights, to hear the sounds. But they place their belief upon faith on the elders who tell them. Of course, along the line, Froggy’s initial descriptions may well be spiced-up a bit too.
Many many years pass. Finally a frog exclaims: “Prove to me that there is anything but this well!”
But no-one has any idea how.
To my knowledge, this quote seemed to appear in some newsgroup posting in a totally different context. I have not been able to source it accurately, and might have reworked it too in presentation.
